Basic Frame Tut

Supplies needed:
PSP any version with a basic familiarity with the tool locations.
A photo (not extremely large)
1. Open a photo in PSP. The size is not important right now as we are doing a very basic frame.
2. Click on your eye dropper tool and choose a color from your graphic either on the light side or dark side for contrast.

3. Now we will add a 10 pixel border in the color that you have chosen. In PSP 9, click on Image then add borders.
In the popup screen set your border size to 10, then click on the color screen and right click your mouse
and the color you have chosen will come up see screen shot

Click the color in the bottom corner and then your color will show up in the color screen.
Now click okay.
4. You now have a 10 pixel border around your picture in color. Next click you magic wand with the settings as seen in the screen shot. Click the magic wand on the border and you will see a bunch of marching ants around your photo.

5. Next we are going to enhance the border a bit with a couple of steps. The first step is to make the border curved. Click on effects\3D effects\Inner Bevel. Use the settings shown.

Click okay.
6. Our next step is to add a drop shadow to the frame. First click Selections invert to move the marching ants to the inside of the border.

Remember not to deselect until told to do so. I am going to use both a dark and a light shadow on the frame. First click effects\3D effects\Dropshadow and then apply these settings.

Click Okay. Then click Effects\3D effects\Dropshadow and use these settings.

Click Okay and the click selections\select none. Any settings in PSP you wish to keep for future use, just click the save option and name the setting and it will be available for other projects in your drop down menu.
You now have a very basic frame for an image. At this point add your watermark and save as a jpg.
Enjoy
