INTERLOCKED HEARTS

This is a fairly easy glitter tut. Any version of PSP can be used to make it.
Supplies needed:
PaintShop Pro
3 different color glitters
Either Hollow heart tube here
or
3heart preset shape here - move it to your preset shapes folder.

I made this using the preset shape. In order to save time, I included the psp tube I made from it.

Open the three glitter files in Animation Shop. You won't need them for awhile, but it's nice not to have to dig for them later.

Open a new image 500 X 500 - transparent

If you use the tube, skip the next section. It is written to show you how to do the preset shapes and set the layers up.

DRAWING THE HEARTS WITH PRESET SHAPES

Set your foreground color to a bright color, hide your background color. Choose 3hearts - using the settings below: If you use a wider line with this preset, the edges of the hearts will overlap. (You can use a simple heart preset and make wider layers if you want. You will have to duplicate, resize and rotate the individual hearts if you do. Make sure to make them all on separate layers.)

Draw the preset hearts large enough to work with easily. Fill as much of the workspace as possible.

Convert the vector layer to a raster layer... (right click on Vector1 in your layer palette, Convert to Raster)

Delete Raster1 layer. It is an empty layer that you don't need.

Use the Magic Wand (Value: RGB Tolerance 0, Antialias checked) to select the large heart.

Right click on the bottom layer in the palette. Promote Selection to Layer.

Double click on the Promoted layer in the palette and rename it Red.

Flood fill with primary red.

Choose the bottom layer and tap the delete button to delete the selection from the bottom layer only.

Choose the medium heart on the bottom layer. Repeat the above steps, this time, name the second layer Blue.

Rename the bottom layer Green. This will make it easy to identify at a glance in the layer palette.

You should have all three hearts on separate layers, named Red, Blue and Green.

Select your red layer. Selections > Select All, Selections> Float, Selections> Defloat

Flood fill this layer with red.

Select the blue layer. Repeat and floodfill the heart with blue

Do the same for the green layer.

Save your tube now. If you plan to reuse the tube, duplicate it and start with the new image.

Use your mover tool to arrange the hearts so they overlap each other. In this example, I have all three interconnected. Study your hearts and imagine what they will look like when you are finished.

ONE STEP AT A TIME
IN MY EXAMPLE.

The top part of the blue heart will go over the red heart. The bottom of the blue heart will be beneath the red heart. Use your lasso tool (point to point, feather 0, antialias checked) to cut out part of the red heart. Start on the edge of the blue heart and draw across the red to point 2, clicking on the edge of the blue, then to point three, at the edge of the blue and on to point 4. Double click to close the selection. On the red layer, tap Delete.

The blue goes over the top of the green heart at the top. It goes under the right vertical edge of the green heart. Draw a selection on the blue, this time aligning your points with the edges of the green heart. Make sure blue is selected in your layers and tap the delete key.

Repeat the steps of cutting the edges until you have your three hearts interlocked.

Starting with the green layer, duplicate it twice. Rename the new layers to G1 and G2. Hide G1 and G2, and the Blue and Red Layers.

Use your magic wand to select the first green heart.

IN ANIMATION SHOP - select the glitter you want to use for the green heart.
Edit > Select All.
Edit > Copy.

IN PSP - right click somewhere on your workspace and select PASTE AS MULTIPLE IMAGES.

Foreground of your material palette, choose pattern, and select the first of the glitter images.

Floodfill Green layer.

Apply the Inner Bevel using these settings.

Hide Green Layer and select/unhide G1.
Change the pattern floodfill to the second green glitter. Floodfill G1.

Apply Inner Bevel.

Hide G1, Select G2
Change the pattern floodfill to the third green glitter and floodfill G2.
Apply Inner Bevel.
Close the 3 glitters.
Hide G2.

Select Blue and duplicate twice. Rename the new layers B1 and B2.

In A/S, choose the second color glitter.

Edit > Select All, Edit > Copy

IN PSP, Paste Animation as Multiple Images.

Repeat the steps to floodfill all three of the blue layers. Hide the blue layers.

Repeat the flood fill process with the Red layers.

You should have 9 layers, each with a unique name, each with a different floodfill.

Unhide layers Red, Blue and Green, hiding all the duplicated layers.

Select the bottom of the 3 layers and right click.
Layers > Merge Visible

Hide the merged layer. Unhide G1, B1 and R1. Select G1.
Layers>Merge Visible.

Hide the merged layer.
Unhide the last three layers, selecting G2 and Merge Visible.

Unhide all three of your merged layers.

Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.
Image > Crop to Selection.
Resize your image to the size you want it.

Save your image as a PSP file, PSP7 compatible somewhere you can find it easily.

Close your glitter files in Animation Shop and Open your new PSP image.

Leave Animation Shop default settings. View in your browser.

Recheck the size and save your animation.

Done Deal.

Hope you enjoyed.
