Start with a new image, 400 X 400 pixels, transparent.
(I start BIG and reduce my image later. That way I can see what I am doing.)
Make sure your layer palette is open.
Select your foreground color before you start. You won't be using the background color. You can use a gradient or pattern with these, too.
Use your Selection Tool > Circle (with the above settings. Place your cursor at points X-200 Y-200 and draw a large circle like in the above example)
Floodfill the circle with your foreground color.
Do NOT deselect.
Click on the duplicate icon above your layer palette to duplicate the layer.
Make sure the top layer is highlighted.
Selections > Modify > Contract - 10
Tap the DELETE KEY once.
Selections > Select All
Selections > Float
Selections > Defloat
This is what it will look like. You won't see any difference in the colors.
Inner Bevel with these settings
Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
Select NONE
THE GROMMET
Tricky little things... outlining a hole to look like a metal ring.
I use Guides to help me position my selections. Place your cursor at X - 200 and about 50 pixels from the top of your circle.
(In this example the Y - Guide is on 83 pixels from the top of the image - )
Draw a small circle - not reaching the top of the taggie... See example.
This is going to be the outside dimension of your grommet.
Promote Selection To Layer
Selection> Modify> Contract - 10
Highlight your bottom layer
Tap your delete key once.
Highlight the top layer.
Tap your delete key again.
Selections > Select All
Selections > Float
Selections > Defloat
Inner bevel with the same settings as above.
Selections > Select All
Selections > Float
Selections > Defloat
Selection> Modify> Contract - 1
Selections > Invert
Tap your delete key again to remove the lines around the outside of the grommet.
(I don't know why this inner bevel puts them there.. I like them gone.)
Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
Finishing up
A NEW SHORTCUT FOR ELIMINATING WHITE SPACE AROUND AN IMAGE
Once I am done with an image, I want to remove the white space (blank area) from around the image and just keep the image.
Selection Tool - Any Shape will work.
Create Selection From: and choose the Middle Button
This tool will draw a rectangle around the outside of the image you are working with.
Image > Crop to Selection.
Resize your taggie to a workable size... mine is 237 X 237

I hope you enjoy making the tag as much as I enjoyed writing the tut.
